A selection of biographies from the personal library of Valentine Ackland (1906-1969) and Sylvia Townsend Warner (1893-1978) both of Maiden Newton, Dorset. These English moderninst literary figures and feminists formed a long-lasting lesbian relationship of 39 years and throughout most of that time lived in Maiden Newton. The books contain the bookplates or handstamps of Ackland (9), or the bookplate of Warner (2), three have been signed by Ackland (one inscribed to Sylvia), another has been inscribed to Valentine from Sylvia, and finally a copy of Joseph Ashby of Tysoe has been inscribed to Sylvia by the author M.K.Ashby. These books appear to have been acquired during the period 1945-1961. The condition is fair to fine. (12)
