[Josiah Wedgwood] Account of the Barberini, now Portland Vase, privately printed, c.1786, extra-illustrated with 20 contemp. engravings & drawings, with cut autograph of Josiah Wedgwood dated 1770 laid down beneath a fine pencil drawing of him, the book further inscribed From the Author at head of half-title; an alteration to the brief preface and the deletion of 6 lines of text to page 9 are in another hand. A presentation copy to Charles Townley, collector of antiquities, with seven pages of manuscript letters and a quotation from Erasmus Darwin's Economy in Townley's hand bound in at rear. Octavo, bound in full calf with gilt ruling and title, showing some wear. Bookplate of Henry Beaufoy; cutting from an old bookseller's catalogue tipped on to reverse of front endpaper. Some light browning o/w VG internally and a unique copy of this book.

Frank Brangwyn R.A., R.W.S., 1867-1956: original watercolour sketch of a war scene applied to front endpaper of Brangwyn's Belgium Kegan Paul, 1916, signed and inscribed by Brangwyn at foot of the sketch and dated 1917. The book is large format, in its original quarter cloth binding with gilt title; some occasional minor tone marks (mainly to prelims) o/w VG; a further interesting pencil sketch has been applied to the front pastedown apparently the work of another artist.
