Leavis (1895-1978) a series of three 1949 autograph letters to Paul Baxter, together with two autograph open testimonials, the letters congratulating Baxter on obtaining a First at Downing College Cambridge, encouraging him to use Leavis's name as a referee, and making reference to the testimonials; all bar one on Downing College headed notepaper. Frank Raymond Leavis was an influential British Literary Critic and one of the foremost thinkers of the 20th Century. (5)
