A selection of biographical & autobiographical works, from the personal library of Valentine Ackland (1906-1969) and Sylvia Townsend Warner (1893-1978) both of Maiden Newton, Dorset. These English modernist literary figures and feminists formed a long-lasting lesbian relationship of 39 years and throughout most of that time lived in Maiden Newton. The books contain the bookplates or handstamps of Ackland (8), or the bookplate of Warner (3); six have been signed by Ackland (three inscribed to Sylvia), and five have been signed by Sylvia (two inscribed to Valentine). These books appear to have been acquired during the period 1930-1970. They include Eugene Lyon’s The Life and Death of Sacco and Vanzetti, 1928. Condition is mixed but mostly good to fine. (18)
