Slavery in St. Vincent: 1st June 1834 letter written at Park Hill Estate sugar plantation, St. Vincent, including monthly statistics detailing staff including 238 slaves, together with a full page report of recent activity on the estate. Sent to Edinburgh but no postal markings. Slavery was abolished in St. Vincent on 1st August that year and was replaced by an apprenticeship system. Fine. The letter is accompanied by the vendor’s research notes.
