South Africa 1900 Cover to UK with complete letter enclosed from 2nd Lieut. Bartram Romilly, Scots Guards, endorsed No stamp / on active service, cancelled BRITISH ARMY S.AFRICA cds. The letter is to his mother Lady Arabella Romilly and includes references to military actions at Ladysmith and elsewhere. Romilly served in the Boer War from 1899 to 1902, was twice mentioned in despatches receiving the Queen's Medal with 5 clasps and was awarded the D.S.O. in 1902.
